The perfect Australian native for cottage gardens! A small perennial with soft green foliage and an abundance of bell-shaped purple flowers over a long period. Ideal for sub-tropical and temperate areas. I have grown it successfully in both by Sydney and Queensland gardens.

An ideal plant for achieving a cottage garden look in warmer climates. It is low growing and ideal for flowering borders and will even grow and flower well with part sun. It is available in pink and purple flower colours and will lightly self-seed if you let it. That can be quite useful as the plants can die suddenly in autumn – they seem to exhaust themselves with the abundant seeds and flower production. But the new seedlings will quickly fill the spot and provide new flowers for the next season.

Also small enough for container growing.

Requires moist, well-drained soils in full sun to partial shade. Regular watering is essential, especially during flowering in spring and summer.
