A prostrate form of Hibbertia pedunculata with bright yellow flowers and dense, green foliage.

There are quite a few Hibbertia that are useful in an Australian native cottage garden for adding pops of sunny yellow.  Boomers is one of my favourites as it flowers in abundance and has a lovely compact and low growing habit.

This form of Hibbertia has a height of less than 15cm making it ideal for the edges of flowering garden borders or for rockeries and areas where you need to keep the height low. You could plant it in a wide low bowl shaped pot to create a dramatic feature in a potted cottage garden. It will not spread aggressively as a ground cover, so is useful as a living mulch around other plants. It is also not too brittle, so it’s easy to weed through.

Thrives in well-drained soils with full sun to partial shade. Drought-tolerant once established. Prune lightly after flowering to encourage dense growth.
