A low-growing small shrub with bright yellow, buttercup-like flowers and narrow, dark green leaves.

There are quite a few Hibbertia that are useful in an Australian native cottage garden for adding pops of sunny yellow. Hibbertia pendunculata is one of my favourites as it’s a small plant and ideal for tucking into gaps between other plants to cram more colour and flowers into every metre in my garden beds. It is not too dominant to overtake other plants and will happily peak out between gaps to display the beautiful blooms.

Hibbertia pendunculata is great for adding a pop of sunny yellow to cottage garden borders or pots. There are low growing prostate forms and also small shrub like versions.

Prefers well-drained soils in full sun to partial shade. Drought-tolerant once established. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape. It is a reliable, pest free and hardy plant in many different conditions and it flowers for a long period from spring through to early summer.
