A small compact plant with a profusion of charming orange, star-shaped flowers and fine green foliage with reddish stems. The orange blooms are so unusual and it’s striking and oh so pretty when in flower.

Great for hanging baskets, flowering borders, rockeries, or as a feature in pots.

In home gardens it tends to be short-lived – so treat it like an annual in your garden and take cuttings to grow it again for next season. It is quite a fussy plant and dislikes summer rain, but I have found that growing it in a hanging basket in a sunny position that can be protected from rains is a good option for growing in temperate areas. It needs little care otherwise and is simply stunning in flower, so well worth the effort!

Prefers sandy, well-drained soils in full sun with consistent winter water. Drought-tolerant once established and will not tolerate summer rains or humidity. Prune lightly when young if buying tube stock.
