Soft wooded native perennial with fine green foliage and lovely star-shaped deep purple flowers from early Summer through to Autumn. This hybrid flowers profusely and doesn’t self seed like the species native Isotoma axillaris.

The sap from broken stems is a skin irritant. Wear gloves and other protective equipment when handling and pruning and be careful when planting.

A beautiful plant for a feature pot as it has a dense rounded habit and flowers profusely for a long period of time. In the garden it is hardy and versatile, tolerating most soil types and conditions. It is mostly the skin irritant sap that makes it more difficult to place in the garden. While it is low growing, the brittle nature of the leaves and the irritant sap makes it unsuitable for planting along paths or where you often need to walk or weed. It is beautiful where it can be left to naturally grow undisturbed.

Prefers well-drained soils in full sun. Deadhead spent flowers to prolong blooming. Apply fertilizer during the growing season for best results.

It can get woody if you don’t tip prune when young. If it gets woody and ugly just dispose of it and grow another!
