Description:

A soft, leafy rounded shrub with abundant spires of lavender-blue flowers for much of the year and variegated aromatic green and white foliage with pink to burgundy tinges.

Garden Design Uses:

This beautiful plant is so useful for adding flowers and bright variegated foliage to the dark and shaded areas in your garden. It flowers prolifically in spring and sporadically throughout the rest of the year, even without any direct sunlight.

The variegated leaves provide added benefits in a shaded spot – with the bright leaf edges providing welcome contrast and pops of light in dark areas.

It handles dry and moist conditions just as well and is such an easy plant. It could be used to create an informal hedge or border, and is ideal for under planting trees and large shrubs to suppress weeds and add another layer of flowers to your garden.

Care:

This beautiful plant keeps a lovely shape and is unbothered by pests in my garden. It also tolerates both wet and dry conditions making it one of the most versatile plants for shade. And as a bonus, it is widely available from many nurseries in spring.

Regular pruning improves the shape and density of the foliage. Removing dead flowers can also help. I prune mine 2 or 3 times a year to keep a more compact size, but I would recommend to just clip of sections when needed to achieve the shape and size you need.
