Scaevola aemula ‘Aussie Salute’ is a short lived perennial ground cover. It is renowned for its vibrant, fan-shaped flowers in shades of purple, blooming profusely from spring through to autumn. With its lush, green foliage and spreading habit, it typically reaches 20–30 cm in height and spreads up to 2 metres, creating a dense mat of colour that attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies.

In garden design, Scaevola is an excellent choice for hanging baskets, window boxes, and containers, where its trailing habit can cascade beautifully. It also works well as a groundcover in garden beds or coastal landscapes, providing a pop of color and textural interest. Pair it with contrasting plants like silver-leafed foliage or grasses for a visually appealing combination, or use it to soften the edges of pathways and walls.

This plant thrives in well-drained soils and prefers full sun to light shade. It is tolerant of heat, coastal conditions, and light frost, making it ideal for a variety of climates. Water regularly during establishment, but once mature, it is moderately drought-tolerant. To maintain its vigor and encourage continuous flowering, prune lightly after each flush of blooms and apply a slow-release fertiliser.
