Veronica perfoliata (commonly known as Digger’s Speedwell) is a striking perennial. In a flowering bed I think it looks better as a middle layer planting, as it benefits from some support from surrounding plants. The flowers are also held upright then to show them off the best.

This plant thrives in well-drained soils and prefers full sun. It is very drought-tolerant once established, making it ideal for water-wise gardens. Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal issues and prune lightly after flowering to maintain its shape and encourage new growth.
